At present, in the mold processing plants in developed countries, more than 90% of the electrode material for mold processing is graphite. Copper, once the dominant electrode material, has almost lost its advantage over graphite. Why is this? Because graphite as a discharge material for EDM has a huge advantage, because the spark oil also contains C atoms, in the discharge processing, the high temperature makes the C atom in the spark oil is decomposed, thus forming a protective film on the surface of the EDM graphite electrode, compensating for the loss of the graphite electrode, so the loss of the graphite electrode is small, so the service life is long.
