Manufacturing process of Carbon Felt
Step 1. Raw Material Selection
Uses PAN (polyacrylonitrile), pitch, or rayon-based fibers7.
Step 2 . Needle Punching
Fibers are aligned and needle-punched into a non-woven mat for structural integrity
Step 3 . Pre-oxidation
Heated in air at 200-400°C to stabilize the fibers and prevent melting during carbonization.
Step 4. Carbonization
Low-Temp (600-1100°C)/High-Temp (1100-1500°C) Converts organic fibers into carbon in an inert (N₂) atmosphere.
Step 5. Graphitization
The carbonized felt is heated to 2000-3000°C in argon or nitrogen, transforming amorphous carbon into a crystalline graphite structure.
Step 6 . Post-Treatment
Surface treatments like coating, laminating with graphite paper, or hardening may be applied.
