Graphite rotors play a key role in aluminium degassing. They remove hydrogen and impurities from molten aluminium, which is critical for improving the quality of cast aluminium products. In aluminium smelting, unwanted gases like hydrogen often enter the melt. This happens when water vapor or moisture reacts with the hot aluminium. If not removed, hydrogen forms bubbles inside the solid metal and leads to porosity or cracks in the final casting.

To prevent these issues, manufacturers use a process called inert gas degassing. The graphite rotor is the heart of this system. It injects inert gases, such as argon or nitrogen, into the molten aluminium and stirs the liquid to help release trapped hydrogen.

The graphite rotor has two main parts: a hollow shaft and a rotor head or impeller. The shaft connects to a degassing system that delivers inert gas into the aluminium melt. Before immersing the graphite rotor in the aluminum liquid, preheat about 100mm above the liquid surface for 5min~10min; before the rotor is immersed in the liquid, the gas must be introduced; the gas supply can be stopped after the rotor raises the liquid level.
