Development trend of smelting technology and demand for electrodes

 

The electric arc furnace in China's iron and steel industry has become a trend of rapid development to large-scale, which is characterized by large output power, stable power coefficient, long arc operation and to save electricity and reduce consumption. Therefore, compared with the traditional electric arc furnace in the past, the new large electric arc furnace has a great change. Modern electric furnace technology pays great attention to the energy problem of electric furnace. The use of gas jet gun and automatic carbon and oxygen gun can reduce electrode consumption of 0.3~0.5KG per ton of steel. With the implementation of hot charging technology, the smelting time is obviously shortened, and the power consumption and electrode consumption are obviously reduced.

 

Large electric arc furnaces all use large capacity transformers and the overload capacity is 20%. From this point of view, the requirements of graphite electrode in iron and steel smelting are higher and higher, especially the quality balance, conductivity, thermal shock resistance and oxidation resistance of electrode. For medium or large arc furnace and offline work permeance LF furnace but there was one problem, namely: UHP electric go offline electrodes with high power, HP furnace go offline electrode using ordinary power, the emergence of the electric furnace is a challenge to enterprise and to the test of traditional products, is also forcing manufacturers to provide low-cost high-quality quasi high power and ultra-high power products. Because the development of iron and steel has passed the quantity of the close, in the direction of the development of high-quality goods and special varieties.

 

Large-scale DC and AC arcs have also been finalized; high-capacity, large-scale and large-scale blast furnaces supporting dual-station LF furnaces have become a new development direction.In addition, the large-scale submerged arc furnace has also begun to take shape.

 

Now the market demand for graphite electrodes has developed in the direction of multiple varieties and increments. Among them: the annual demand for UHP graphite electrodes will reach 100,000 tons; the annual demand for HP graphite electrodes is at least 180,000 tons; the large-scale φ500MM and φ600MM electrodes for HP graphite electrodes are also moving towards an incremental direction (mainly submerged arc furnaces) .
